What Happens when you Add a Handful of BERRIES to your food?

Adding a handful of blueberries, currants, raspberries or any other berries is a really simple way of packing an extra punch to your diet. They’ve long been considered a ‘Superfood’ or ‘The Powerhouse’ and for good reason too.

Berries, full of Anti-Oxidants for good health

Berries are stuffed with Antioxidants which are the things that stop damage to the body from toxic stuff such as pollution, sunburn, processed foods, illnesses, alcohol and much much more. Remembering that the toxic stuff, which lets off free radicals, is also the major cause of damage to your body’s cells and thus of you aging (wrinkles, aches, pains, loss of muscle strength etc), you’ll understand why foods with antioxidants are so valuable for your health.

Whilst Blueberries have a reputation as being amongst the best source of antioxidants, the other berries are excellent too and there are loads of other foods that also provide them. Go for fresh fruits and vegetables with a range of colours and you will be packing in a lot of vital antioxidants.

Not only do these fruits and veggies contain high levels of antioxidants but they also provide us with a whole list of nutrients that provide wonderful benefits to help support our well-being.

Bursting with Calcium, dietary fibre, folate, magnesium, manganese, niacin, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin C, E & K. Which are all good for our digestive health, immunity, healthy skin, eye health, strong bones, healthy blood flow and heart health – brain food too!

So, if you’re going to make one healthy change to your diet this week, start by adding a handful of berries to your morning breakfast and attempt to eat the rainbow of veggies and fruits, starting with blue!
